Platform Update — Step Into Nexsolium

Enter the Portal New visitors entering Nexsolium from the homepage are now welcomed through the Portal. The experience begins with a cinematic gateway before opening into a fully explorable library. On desktop, visitors can: move freely using WASD, look around the library, explore the bookshelves, walk around the central globe, inspect books, and interact directly with works found throughout the environment. The Portal remains available from the main Nexsolium interface after the first visit, so readers can return whenever they want. Visitors who would rather head straight to the platform can also skip the cinematic experience. A Library Built From Real Nexsolium Books The books inside the Portal are connected to the actual Nexsolium catalogue. Original works now display their real cover artwork whenever available, while books without artwork continue to use the Portal's existing generated book designs. Nexsolium Classics have also joined the main library. Classic works use their real cover artwork where available and sit alongside original stories throughout the environment, giving the library a mixture of newly published work and literature from the public domain. Selecting a book inside the Portal takes readers directly to its existing Nexsolium book page. The Author Gallery Hidden beyond the main library is a second explorable space dedicated to the people creating stories on Nexsolium. The Author Gallery presents original Nexsolium authors as part of a warm, museum-inspired literary hall. Each author display includes: their profile portrait, their name and published work count, a selection of their books, real book covers where available, and direct links to their Nexsolium profile and stories. Authors without a profile photo receive a Portal-specific antique portrait treatment rather than a standard website avatar, keeping every display consistent with the gallery's dark wood, brass and candlelit visual style. The Author Gallery is intentionally reserved for Nexsolium's original authors. Public-domain authors from Nexsolium Classics remain part of the main library but do not appear in the gallery. A Gallery That Grows With Nexsolium The gallery is generated directly from Nexsolium's author and book data. As more authors join the platform, additional gallery wings are created automatically. Each wing connects naturally to the next through its own passage and archway, allowing the space to continue expanding without turning the original gallery into one enormous corridor. Authors with larger catalogues receive curated book displays while their complete work count remains visible and their profile provides access to the rest of their catalogue. The result is a space that can grow alongside Nexsolium without requiring every author or book to be manually placed inside the 3D world. Designed as Part of Nexsolium The Portal is no longer an isolated experiment. It is now connected directly to the wider platform. Readers can move from the Portal into: the Nexsolium homepage, original books, Classics, author profiles, search, their library, and the rest of the platform. Likewise, the normal Nexsolium interface now provides a way back into the Portal. Direct book, profile and other Nexsolium links continue to work normally and do not force visitors through the interactive entrance. The Portal is an additional way to experience Nexsolium, not a barrier between readers and the content they came to find. Built for Performance Despite becoming significantly larger, the Portal remains designed around web performance rather than behaving like a traditional game. Gallery areas are created only when they are needed. Portraits and book covers load based on the visitor's location, distant gallery wings remain inactive until approached, shared geometry and materials are reused, and decorative animation from other rooms can pause while the visitor explores elsewhere. Visitors who never enter the Author Gallery do not need to download all of its artwork. The normal Nexsolium website also remains independent from the heavy 3D experience, so browsing books and profiles does not require loading the Portal. Accessibility and Fallbacks The Portal remains an optional experience. Reduced-motion users, devices without WebGL support, keyboard users and visitors on less powerful hardware retain access to Nexsolium's books and authors through accessible alternatives. Mobile devices also retain a lighter version of the experience without forcing desktop-style movement controls onto touch screens. One Platform, Two Ways to Explore The traditional Nexsolium website remains the fastest way to search, read, publish and manage your library. The Portal is something different. It is a physical interpretation of the platform itself. The library holds the stories. The gallery introduces the people creating them. And the Portal is now the door into Nexsolium.
