Platform Update — Discovery, Classics & Author Tools
Nexsolium’s library and publishing experience has received another round of improvements, with a focus on making discovery more active, giving authors a smoother publishing workflow, and preparing the platform for a growing collection of both original stories and literary classics.
A growing Classics collection Nexsolium Classics can now grow continuously with new public-domain books added from Project Gutenberg. Imported books pass through an improved formatting and chapter-processing pipeline before appearing on the platform, helping preserve readable paragraph structure, typography, section breaks and book structure while filtering out unnecessary source formatting. The Timeless Shelf on the homepage now highlights recently added Classics in a single moving carousel, giving new additions a place to surface without taking attention away from Nexsolium Originals. On mobile, Classics have also been adjusted to display one book at a time for a cleaner swipe experience. Originals remain front and centre Fresh on Nexsolium remains dedicated to books created by Nexsolium authors. Readers can now switch between: Fresh originals — newly published work from Nexsolium authors. Recently updated — Original books that have recently received new or updated chapters. This allows active stories to return to discovery as their authors continue writing them, while keeping public-domain Classics within their own dedicated collection. Categories for Nexsolium Originals Original books can now be organised using categories. Categories are managed directly through Nexsolium rather than being permanently hard-coded into the platform. New categories can be created, renamed or removed as the library evolves. Only categories currently used by public Original books are shown to readers, keeping the discovery interface clean and preventing empty categories from cluttering the library. Public-domain Classics remain part of the dedicated Nexsolium Classics collection and are kept separate from Original-book categories. Better update notifications Readers can now be notified when books they care about receive meaningful updates. Publishing a new chapter—or updating the content of an existing published chapter—can notify readers who are: following the author; currently reading the book. Notifications use Nexsolium’s existing notification and preference system, including deduplication to avoid unnecessary repeated alerts. Draft changes, private books and routine metadata changes do not trigger reader notifications. A new notification preference also allows readers to control whether they want to receive new and updated chapter alerts. Author Studio improvements Creating and maintaining a book is now more straightforward. The initial book creation flow focuses on the information authors actually need first: title, category, description and optional series information. Books begin safely as private drafts, while technical options such as URL slugs and additional publishing controls remain available when needed. Chapter publishing has also been streamlined with clearer content controls and a live word counter. Authors working through multiple chapters can now use Create & add next or Save & add next, making it much faster to publish or upload a book chapter by chapter without repeatedly navigating back through Author Studio. Mobile Library improvements The mobile Library has been simplified for greater stability and readability. Books in sections such as Currently Reading now use a clean vertical card layout rather than forcing interactive library cards into a horizontal discovery carousel. This resolves layout and footer overflow issues when readers have larger collections while keeping the desktop Library layout intact. Smaller improvements This release also includes refinements to Classics pagination, mobile card sizing, chapter formatting, book-update timestamps, category filtering and responsive collection layouts. Behind the scenes, Nexsolium’s public-domain import tooling has also been strengthened with safer automated imports, duplicate handling, database backups and improved processing of Gutenberg book structures. Nexsolium continues to grow around the same idea: give original authors the space to build something new, give readers better ways to follow what they love, and keep great stories—new and old—worth discovering.
